Drive by shooting

(Warning: the "F" word can be slightly heard through the ebonic yammer during this video. But but it's overshadowed by everything else that is going on. There is no blood or guts showing, it's all a pretty quick 10 second thing)

I don't know if this is real. Sure looks and sounds like it. Their poor target went down awful quick.

How would you avoid or be prepared for something like this?
My thoughts:
1) Don't walk around in such a neighborhood, at least not at night. (not that it is impossible for it to happen in cleaner neighborhoods)
2) If you must, then always be aware of what is going on around you.
3) Always be armed. If you are able to return fire then they might very well run. Hit and run people are as a rule cowards which is all drive by's are.

I noticed the one in the backseat's Berretta ran out of ammo pretty quick after only a few shots.

Any other tactical thoughts on this video?

Well, rats, I signed up to view it and although I've clicked "confirm" to tell them that yes, they can show it to me, I can't get it to work....

In general, I tend to be suspicious of anything on Youtube, because it's a venue for all sorts of staged stunts, by people who can get their 15 minutes of fame if it's egregious enough. Not saying this is like that (since I can see it, what would I know, LOL) but a lot of that stuff is staged.

I had the same trouble with another video a while back when I signed up. You have to fool with it a while, go in circles for a while and go in and out through different areas (backclicking, searching for the item again, maybe clearing all your cookies)

Wow. I really don't know what to say...

I think that if you were randomly targeted for something like this, you wouldn't have a prayer.

I guess the advise about staying out of "that kind of neighborhood" is about the only thing that could save you.

... but I live in a bad neighborhood and pretty much always have. I am not going anywhere. Your rule #1 is weird and detached from reality. If you live in an interesting area how are you supposed to stay away at night?

There's a second version that shows it's fake. It's scary as h**l nevertheless, but it is fake. Apparently these fake drive by videos are all over the place...drive by nerf shooting, drive by school shooting....

okay it's fake, there's another video that is a few seconds longer showing the making of it. But it brings up a good point, something like that is really hard to fight against/run away from. Especially if you're caught in the open with nowhere to run, and they catch you off guard.

When I originally saw this, it looked real, but surely nobody would be dumb enough to shoot someone, tape it and then put it online for all to see with their smiling faces in camera.
On the other hand, surely the police would be all over anyone for shooting a fake video firing blank shots on a city street echoing all over the place. Disturbing the peace would be the least they would have to worry about.
Wonder if that's what happened to these jerks

It's too bad you are scared of the dark, Doug. You are probably missing out on some high-quality cookouts and beer-drinking sessions with your neighbors. Your basement bunker must have a nice entertainment system... I would get bored in a hurry.
