How about these bullets?
.30 Cal Frangible M-160 108.5 Grain
http://www.iidbs.com/hitech.zkb?3244...8&object-menu6 I have a garand and another 30'06 I would love to do some informal plinking with, but the ammo is durn expensive. Anyone ever use the in a Garand or a bolt action? How are they?

A Garand is a gas operated semi automatic and there is a load range that it will operate correctly in. I beleave the 108 gr bullet you ask about, is well below that limit. Some have loaded 125 gr bullets for a garand and are very happy with them, myself I have had better accuracy with 155, 168 and 175 gr bullets in my garands
Your bolt rifle does not have that load limitation |

I know gas guns have certain limitation, I was hoping someone had already experimented with these.

They are cheap. Cheap isnt always good though. I suppose that shooting in redneck ranges would reduce the risk of a ricochet. Maybe sniping prairie dogs laying down.
