still new to this reloading game....using a scale type scale, want to be precise, but if my powder varies, how much is too much...don't have a trickler yet, but working on getting one soon

It really depends on the powder you are using if your using 2400 you have tons of room for error. If your using Titegroup you really have to be on the ball because it is so much hotter that others and double charging would be very easy with TG. If your using a scale for every round you can achive great results however that is very slow you may want to invest in a powder measure,you can still control exact amounts but automate your loading somewhat.
