Jp sauer & sohn 16 ga sxs shotgun
My father recently acquired a jp sauer & sohn 16 ga sxs shotgun. We are interested in dating the gun. It has several proof marks which i have already managed to figure out their meanings from other postings. The serial number is 171xxx. Based on other postings we have read, i believe it is around 1909-1911 range. Also how do we find out what model it is? It has the kiel proof mark, also the crown s, crown u and crown w, a large crown that is different than the ones above the letters and of course the sauer marking of the man with the club/staff (barbarian). Any info would be appreciated, thanks!!

You might try asking here:
http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/view...38fe0028d6d80a It is a sub-forum for folks who love their German shotguns. Here are some proof marks -not sure if this is any help as you sound like you have most of them figured out: http://www.shotguns.se/html/germany_1890-1945.html |
