Recommended OptiVISOR power for Checkering
I'll be cleaning up the checkering on a stock after a refinish. I have the Brownells checkering repair kit and a cradle. Don't have an optiVISOR though.
Is it needed? If so, which Lens Plate does anyone recommend for this? Options are: 1.50x at 20" 1.75x at 14" 2.00x at 10" 2.50x at 8" 2.75x at 6" 3.50x at 4"

Figure out which focal length you need by determining the most comfortable position for working. If you need greater magnification, you'll have to work closer!

I do quite a bit of checkering, and I use +2.00. It works for me, but you should figure out what will be right for you.

I use the 1.75 at 14 inch.
What really helps is those LED lamps , the single bulb one. Works better than a light bulb.

Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to start with 2.00x at 10" 'cause that's about how far away I'll be (focal length). As mentioned the lenses appear to be replaceable so if that doesn't work well I can try another. Might try an LED lamp too.
