Fell in love with the Sig Nightmare Carry

I handled one on Friday while my buddy was doing the paperwork to buy a different gun. As soon as the store employee handed it to me and I gripped it, I fell in love. It felt perfect in my hand and instantly I started wondering how I was going to pay for one. I ended up leaving without it, but now I can't get it out of my head. They had it marked at $1079, which I think is high, but the way the gun market is right now, I'm halfway thinking about going back this week and buying it. I'd probably have to sell off a couple custom knives and a few folders to offset the cost a bit if I do, but I'll get more use out of the gun than the knives that just sit there and look pretty.

Anyone have an opinion on whether $1079 is an acceptable price right now? Maybe I should just wait until the craze dies down a bit and see if prices drop?

I don't think that price is too far off. For starters its a Sig, that makes it more expensive than other mfrs. Next its a 1911. If you look at the price of other quality 1911s, they run anywhere from 800-1100 dollars.
I think $1079 for a Sig 1911 is reasonable.
I hope you get it.
When I was in the army I went to a gun show. There was a Sig ( I forget the model) that I handled. It fit me like someone had molded that gun to my hand. I didn't buy it and 15 years later I still can't find a gun to fit me like that one did.

I carry one every day. Great gun. I'm a fan of the 1911, but the bobtail makes a great gun a Fantastic gun.

I think I'm going to go ahead and pick it up.....assuming they have one left. They had two when I was there so I'll cross my fingers. Its 90 miles away, so I won't be able to get there til Thursday or Friday. I'll post up a few pics if/when I get it. If it runs as good as it looks and shoots it will be replacing my CW9 for carry.

the nightmare carry is a fine 1911,,,i checked one out last week but ended up taking home the STX,, the nightmare will be next.. really happy with both of my sig 1911's so far ( XO and new STX) ...local dealers are getting just under 1k for them in my area....

For any of you who own the SCN, how is the holster situation? Is it hard to find suitable holsters?

I agee with the others and at the same time believe you are a wise person if you have to hesitate with your personal affordability.

I do not think or believe there is or should be a rise in the price of handguns. It is just wishfull thinking on the part of sellers.

In my opinion handguns can be bought for a real bargain these days. Part of it is because of the shortage of ammo.

Shop around and buy your new love when you can afford it and at a great price.

Spats- I just use 1911 holsters. I have a galco king tuck and a desantis leather holster. I don't think it needs anything special.

Shooting a friends Nightmare put me over the edge to get a 1911 for myself. I wanted something full size for the range. I got a Springfield Range Officer. I still like the feel of the Sig though. I'm happy with my pistol and if I ever get around to carrying a .45 it probably will come down to the P250 SC I have or a Nightmare if I find one. I'm pretty certain you are going to like it.

I bought the full size Nightmare 3 weeks ago for $979.

I just can't say enough about how good that fastback feels in my hand though. Just amazing.

Thank you, Mr.Scott. For some reason, I thought I remembered seeing that Sig 1911s don't fit standard 1911 holsters well. At my age, I don't expect to remember everything correctly, though, so perhaps I misremembered.

The price is fair. Deals can be had. I bought mine for $979. Depends on the dealer and your location plays a big part it seems. I use all Galco holsters for my carry guns. There are plenty of holsters in the market place for these Sig 1911's. Good luck I hope you get this gun.

Thanks guys!! I'm going to get it tomorrow as long as one of the two is still there. I've been a good customer there and have bought 7 or 8 guns at their prices, so I'm going to offer them $1,000 and see if they will take it. They probably won't, but it can't hurt to try. I'll take the full amount with me and just pony up if they won't take the $1,000 for it.

I'm thinking that I'll go with a Crossbreed Supertuck for carry. Anyone us it with the Sig 1911's? I suppose I should just email them and ask.

As luck would have it, they didn't have one when I got there last Thursday. They had sold one and the other was actually a 5" version, so no gun for me then. I kept looking online and found an auction on GB yesterday morning that had no bids and no reserve. Price started at $899 and that's what I got it for. By the time they added shipping, insurance(I thought this should be part of the shipping), and cc fees I was up to $975. My transfer here will be $30, so overall I saved quite a bit considering the one I was going to buy woulda been right at $1160 after tax. With any luck I'll have it in hand and will post some pics!!

Off topic. But they really named a gun "nightmare?"

I've owned a couple of guns that were nightmares. My first wife was a nightmare (to me and later, to two other husbands). My first car, a Triumph Spitfire, was a nightmare.

That just seems like an odd name for a gun.

You might be able to get a brand new free 1911 .22LR pistol since you purchased the new Nightmare model SIG pistol.
