It came down to a decision between two photos for me...>

kodiakbeer's Garand "in action" shot, and Brad Johnson's Model 92 Saddle Ring Carbine close-up.

Both interesting photos. Brad's shot of the lever action rifle in black & white has good impact. Selective focus has isolated the interesting features of the saddle ring and top of the action. Very well done.

I decided in favour of kodiakbeer's Garand shot. Compositionally it's a little messy but it captured the moment with the casing and clip being ejected. An interesting shot.

Plenty of good pics this month.

Thank you both! That was literally the first live-fire clip to "Ka-Ching" out of the action after we received this CMP Garand. In retrospect, perhaps I should have cropped it for better composition.
Impromptu shoot off the hood of a car at our local dirt-berm-in-the-woods shooting range.

It's supposed to be about the picture, not the gun,,,

So clembert got my vote this month,,,
Just a nicely balanced composition of a Remington repro.

kodiakbeer,
how did you manage to get that "ping" moment?
was that a vid you took a frame out of or did you just get lucky, incredible.
I miss those over the hood of the car ranges, your blessed to have that for your son.

good luck.

It was a typical low-light rainy winter day - my sons Christmas college break - the rifle had come in while he was away. Here in this part of Alaska, the sun just barely clears the horizon at that time of year, so it's pretty much twilight at mid day if it's raining, which it usually is - or sleeting, or wet snow or fog or...
Anyway, I shot in ISO mode which slows down the shutter speed for low light. I just pushed the button when I heard the bang, and got lucky. I had waited for the final round of his first clip to see if I could catch that image and for once, a plan worked...

kodiakbeer!

Good show, kodiakbeer!

Bud neglected to put a closing date on this poll, so we got a couple of extra days voting in.
