I like safe the direction.
Whenever I'm teaching firearms safety, I rattle on awhile about the safe direction. By and bye, I ask, "Incidentally, what is the safe direction?" Blank stares. Squirming. Fidgeting. Sudden interest in looking out the window. Hemming. Hawing. The safe direction is at anything you're legally and morally entitled to destroy.

That wasn't a true FTF mishap - if you watch closely, she accidentally drags the lit match across the pan. With a matchlock, that's tantamount to pulling the trigger.
