what manufacturer of this 5.56 brass?
IK 07 is on the headstamp red primer sealant. Found a bunch in the desert, boxer primed, but boy are those primers tough to get out. broke/bent 2 decapping pins on 3 pieces of brass. ordered a depriming punch

Headstamps can be found here:
http://cartridgecollectors.org/headstampcodes.htm I use a universal decapping die for everything, but it is especially useful on military brass. Last edited by jepp2; January 1, 2010 at 01:26 PM. Reason: added content |

The IK brass I have reloaded does seem to break more decapping pins then any other .223 brass.
I don't know if the primers have more of a crimp or not. After a trip through the super swage they give me no more trouble. |

Crimped primers are not a problem. You can easily deprime with the RCBS Heavy Duty Depriming Dies. Then you need to swage the crimp or remove it with a pocket knife/drill/your favorite method. You do this only once and the brass is good forever after.
If you are breaking a lot of pins, the brass may very well be berdan primed. Shine a light into the case and see if you see one or two holes in the bottom. Two holes is BERDAN and this brass should be consigned to the scrap bucket. |

Heretic is right. ---AND---- Yugoslav brass may certainly be primed with berdan primes as medalguy mentioned
