Correct Cases?
I am reloading for a 7mm TCU. I have some nickle cases (purchased on Ebay) with a headstamp the reads:
IMHSA 7mm/223 Modern Reloading 2nd Edition, by Richard Lee, lists loads for a 7mm IHMSA, but the case measurements are much bigger than those it lists for the 7mm TCU. The nickle cases, as described above, match the listed 7mm TCU dimensions EXACTLY. Can I quit worrying about the headstamp and load these cases for the 7mmTCU? |

Different head size
According to Hornady's book, the 7mm IHMSA is formed from the 300 Savage case, not from the smaller .222/.223 case the 7mm TCU is necked up from.
Some manuals list 7mm/223 and 7mm TCU as the same. Last edited by hivel37; September 28, 2006 at 10:35 AM. Reason: Additional info |

There are several 7mm rounds based on the 223 case, the main difference being case taper and shoulder angle. 7mm TCU is just one of those rounds. I would fire a mid-range load first to make sure the cases are fireformed, then proceed as normal.
