People ought to be far, far more concerned about DHMO

Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO) is a colorless and odorless chemical compound, also referred
to by some as Dihydrogen Oxide, Hydrogen Hydroxide, Hydronium Hydroxide, or simply Hydric acid.
Its basis is the highly reactive hydroxyl radical, a species shown to mutate DNA, denature proteins,
disrupt cell membranes, and chemically alter critical neurotransmitters. The atomic components
of DHMO are found in a number of caustic, explosive and poisonous compounds such
as Sulfuric Acid, Nitroglycerine and Ethyl Alcohol....

I note that the CDC's own stats reveal that in 2004, there were 3,308 unintentional
deaths from DHMO inhalation in the United States, an average of nine people per day.(CDC 2006).
In that same year, of all children 1-4 years old who died, 26% died from DHMO inhalation
(CDC 2006), and it remains the second-leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for
children ages 1 to 14 years (CDC 2005)

It is estimated that for each DHMO inhalation death, there are 1 to 4 nonfatal incidents serious
enough to result in hospitalization. Children who still require cardiopulmonary resuscitation at
the time they arrive at the emergency department have a poor prognosis, with at least half
of survivors suffering significant neurologic impairment. Children under five and adolescents
between the ages of 15-24 have the highest DHMO-related death rates. (CDC).

support an outright ban on the use of Dihydrogen Monoxide in the United States....
