Benelli NOVA Problem

I saw a nice camo Benelli NOVA at a gun store that I may be interested in buying. However, the button in the forearm that allows the shell in the chamber to be extracted without chambering a shell from the magazine does not appear to be working. Is this considered a "show stopper"? Any idea how much it would it cost to fix it if I did buy it?

That's what warrentys are for. So with that said it should only be an inconvenince of time.

It's a used gun, and not sure when it was made or if the warranty would still be in force. I guess I can call Benelli to find out when it was made and if it would still be under warranty (Serial Number is Z 1919xx)

Whether or not it's a good deal depends on the cost. Around here transfers can cost $65 and then shipping might be another $20 or $30. So if you did have to send the entire gun in for a repair (that was covered under warranty) the shop would need to take off a considerable amount of the price of the shotgun. Maybe $150 or more if benelli does not cover the cost of the repair under warranty.
I paid $325 for my Nova with ghost ring sights and an after market magazine extension. The gun was used, but the owner said that he had only put 20 rounds through it. I believe him. Everything on mine functions perfectly.

FYI, to activate the magazine cutoff button, you have to first pull the slide back a couple of inches. It will not work with the action closed.

The magazine cut-off button works just fine, so I bought the gun. Hope to shoot some clays with it tomorrow. Thanks..

Benelli Nova's are awesome, we own 4 of them. Good job on the purchase!! have fun!

Just got back from shooting the Nova for the first time at wobble clays. Setup is 5 stations in a slight arc even with the wobble trap. 1 single and two report pairs on each station. 25 targets per round. Most shots are from 20-35 yards. I shot 48x50 using the modified choke tube. I've never done better with any of my other guns. It's definitely a keeper.

What length barrel does it have? Sights?

Barrel appears to be 27-1/2". Standard factory glow-type front sight (Not sure what they call them) with a small bead at mid-rib.

Thanks! I always shoot low gun on that particular wobble clays field because it is good practice for shooting quail or pheasants over dogs.

The only other time I shot a similar score (24x25) the first time I shot a newly acquired gun was with my a 16 ga. Sears JC Higgins Model 103.360 O/U (Marlin Model 90) choked Mod/Full that I bought last year.

I'm glad you like it. I just got a Nova, and it kicks like a mule with 3 inch turkey loads. I see a limbsaver in my future.

I've only shot Remington Gun Club Target loads in mine so far. At close to 8 lbs, there was not much felt recoil. Shooting at a turkey is like patterning the gun. Felt recoil always seems a lot greater to me when I am aiming the gun at a stationary target. Felt recoil seems less noticeable when duck or goose hunting.
