stoney point overall case length guage

Has anyone used this tool and have you found it useful in making more accurate handloads? I would also like to know if anyone has had any experience using the curved model in straight bolt actions? Any comments good or bad would be appreciatedd!

I use one. Many rifle reloaders use 'em. Why on earth would you use the curved model for a bolt action???

There are several tools that will do what the Stoney Point tool does. Sinclair is a goood choice for info. I use the SPoint tool... it does exactly what its designed to do: find the correct OAL for a particular bullet where the ogive touches the rifling. Often, this is where some bolt actions shoot their best, but, beware of pressure problems.

Walt,

I was considering the curved model to use in all my rifles. I have a pump Rem. 7600 in 30-06 and a lever action .44 mag and according to Stoney point the curved model will work in the bolt actions to. So I was just trying to be economical in my buying! But I could buy the straight model and just use it for my Ar-15, Ruger .338 and Win. .243.
