My new (used) Springfield XD 40.
I picked up my Springfield XD 40 today. I was a bit suprised. It was in the used section of my local gunshop with a number of Glocks and S&W M&P (SVs, and even a Sigma). Other than the Sigma this was the cheapest of the group. While I was looking it over it felt very comfortable in my hand. I'm not normally a poly-framed kinda guy. I looked at the Glocks and the Smiths, and found I really like the XD. So at $389 (+ tax), I took a chance on it.

That's a good deal on a great gun. I have the same one with LOTS of rounds through it. I've never had a single jam or failure with it. Enjoy.

I just Bought a new ( used ) XD .40 sub compact yesterday... but I paid 500.00 total... came with a few extras.
From everything I have read and all the vids Ive watched on them, they are extremely good guns. Nice purchase... and at a good price. |

Thanks all.
This is my first 40 cal. Are there any recommendations on ammo? I bought some white box 165gr FMJ for the range, and also bought a box of Winchester 185 Bonded HP for defense.

The XD Service is a big and heavy enough gun that I hope we don't hear any whining from you about how "snappy" the .40 is.

Kev, as far as ammo, you may want to look at the thread I just posted " why the 180 grain bullet is not a good choice for the .40 S&W"
