Shotgun idiot needs 870 insight.
I have a Remington 870 Wingmaster, 28" bbl, 2-3/4" 12 ga., vent rib, high gloss stock, mod. choke.
This SG is unfired and looks nearly perfect. I thought I'd sell it to finance another weapon. Any guesstimate as to it's value? Also, a friend may want to trade an M1 .30 carbine for the Wingmaster. The M1 was made by General Motors in 1941 or 1942 and is decent. Any insight? Thanks for any help you can offer, BamBam (edited to properly describe SG) |

Your gun is worth about thirty bucks. You don't want to burden your friend with the old beast--I'll take it off your hands.
Actually, I'd go looking at gunbroker.com if I were in your shoes. I'd think a ballpark would be 3-500$, though I could be wildly wrong (and often am). |

Ooops!
Yes, it's a Remington. Winchester is the other SG I have and know little about. I DO know a few things about handguns....really. Thanks, Joe |

Let me get this straight....
You're trying to get rid of one of the best close range weapons ever made (As well as a great sporting arm and fun maker)in order to get a so-so close range weapon that's a little underpowered and often ammo sensitive? Oh, the horror!!.... Seriously, a fixed choke, standard grade field WM in great shape with vent rib, 2 3/4" chamber, well call it around $300 or a hair more if the wood's really pretty. Please spend a few hours mining the Archives here about 870s before you make what may be a mistake of grave consequence. HTH.... |

Damn It Dave!!!
I was just about to private message him offering to take the 870 off his hands. I would have paid freight and transfer! HS/LD |

Sorry, HS/LD, it's wrong to take advantage of the ignorance of others.

Thanks, for the info. The Wingmaster has excellent wood....always stored indoors in a wool sheath.
I always figured I'd keep it since it's so minty but I know I'll never use it. I already have a Sears M-300 Deer Slug (Winchester 1100?) that I've only shot twice; it's used as a snake gun for my boat. I'm not much of a hunter other than that. |

Bam Bam, The value of M1 Carbines very a lot dependent on "Originality" Manufacturer and condition. If you would like to due some research on the Carbines try the Culver Shooting Page website. Go to the Carbines page at www.jouster.com

Just to do the match, here in SC a good M1 Carbine is over 500. Good Wingmasters are at about 350.
Sounds like a good deal if you can get it.

Unless your kid needs a kidney transplant sell the other trash and forego on the other purchase before you sell the wingmaster! I will bet you will regret it the rest of your life,
