Increasing 5906 mag capacity

I recently purchased a used but in excellent condition 5906 mag. It is a factory 15 round mag, however, it will only let me insert 14 rounds into it. Even with the use of a UPLULA, I can't decompress the spring enough to get the 15th round in. Do I just need to replace the magazine spring to get the last round in, or do both the spring and follower need to be replaced? Have to see if the cost will be worth of an additional round.

If you have to push that hard to get ammo into the magazine, it would probably cause feeding problems. Sounds to me like you have a 14-round magazine.

It only takes 14, but the mag does have an index hole for 15, exactly like my factory 15 round magazine.

I have both 14 and 15 rd mags for my 5906. Can someone explain why the difference/change from 14 to 15.
