Franchi 48 AL

Where can I get serial number data on Franchi 48ALs? Benelli USA which imports the 48ALs today was unable to provide any helpful information. Does anyone know the dating of serial numbers? I can only roughly guess by things like checkering pattern, trigger shape, etc. But that only gets me within a decade of the guns manufacture. Any help in this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Go to www.shotgunworld.com in the forum's look for Franchi. There you can find the year of mfg. The date of mfg. is not dependent on serialnumber. But rather a two letter code staped on the reciever. You will find the date code (two letters) stamped by the serial number in front of the loading port on the reciever. Mine is stamped BA, year of mfg. 1991.
