Help me with new scope guys

So i did a post about rifles and i decided im going with a tikka in a 308 and now it is time for glass. im looking at either leupold burris or nikon and just wanted to know some of your experiences with these brands

price range?

I had a Burris. Optically it was ok, but it felt overpriced. I have a Nikon that I still need to send in for some warranty issues, but assuming it gets sorted out, it will be an excellent value. No experience with Leupold.

I have a Leupold 4.5x14 VXIII with the boone & Crocket reticle. Excellant scope and the warranty with Leupold is no hassle. I have had my binocs replaced with leupold. I would recomend the Leupold

I have 2 burris scopes. one on my rifle one on my super redhawk in 454 casull. never had a problem with either. the one on the pistol replaced a red dot of a make i cant remember fell apart on the inside after 150 rounds. worth every penny. I also have a nikon buckmaster series that I purchased on a 7mm mag then put it on my 12 ga rifled shotgun for a season and it now sits on my sons 243 also a good scope. you have the right idea

I do not think you will be diappointed by any of those brands. I have a Nikon that would not sight in but did get it fixed through Nikon, and has since been flawless. I will say that Nikon customer service was not ideal, but in the end they took care of the issue. All of My Burris and Leupold scopes have performed without flaw.

nikon or leopuld are good scopes but burris scopes are junk imo

Leupold VX 3 in what ever power your needs call for. I have 4.5x14x40's on most of my rifles and like that power range.

I have no experience with Burris, but have heard good things. Nikon not so much. A local dealer here will not carry them because of problems and bad customer service.

There are a lot of refurburished ones at Natchez Shooters Supply and other outlets. That tells me that there must be a bunch of not so good ones out there.

Buy Leupold , quality products and impeccable customer ! A used Leupold is a smarter buy than the other two you mentioned , new !

My personal favorite hunting scope for many years is Leupold VX III 2.5X8. Excellent optics, and not larger than the gun. You do not need any more power for hunting, and lighter weight and lower mounts are always better in my experience.

It seems like you want a good scope so for a 175-225 range the Nikon Buckmaster is the one you want, for the 225-300 range A Leupold VXII is the one Id choose, for 300-450 the Nikon Monarch standard 2.5x10 is the one. And for 450+ Either the Monarch Gold German 4 of the Leupold VX7

I've had good luck with my Burris scopes; but, mine predate the take over by Beretta. It's really easy to paint relative scope quality with too broad a brush. May I suggest that you look at the on-line reviews of the specific models you have in mind.

I have an identical setup with a nikon buckmaster 4.5-15x40 I got at Gender Mtn. for like $320. It's a fairly new setup, but worked remarkably well so far....

My personal favorites are Leupolds. That being said, I've also got some Bushnell Banners that have been good solid scopes for way less money.

I just slapped this one on my 222 yesterday, and got it sighted in no problem. It replaces a 3x9 Leupold, which was nice but not as powerful as I wanted for shooting ground squirrels. jd

For ~$250 check out the Mueller 3-10x44 Tac II. Superb glass and solid constructions make this scope a great deal for the price.

At 300 the Nikon Buckmaster is the one I would get. Very clear and well made scopes with a lifetime warrenty

Dollar for dollar, you can't find a better scope than a Nikon Monarch. In the same price range, I found the Nikon Monarch better than either the Leupold or Zeiss scopes that I set out to buy.

When I bought my last scope, I compared the Burris and Leupold and found Burris to be just as nice but a little less money. I ended up with a Burris FFII 4.5-14x42 and have been very happy with it.

Based on all my research, I do feel if you go Leupold that extra money will be go towards better customer service. I'd guess that's what you are paying for when you go Leupold.

I bought my son a Tikka T3 in .308 2 years ago, put a Nikon 4.5-14 with BDC reticle on it and he is deadly with it. Shot his ( he was 10) first deer with it last year, 323 yards. Before I could even tell him which circle of the reticle to hold on the deer after I called out the distance the deer was on the ground. Getting him to the range and used to the scope and BDC circles was huge.
I must say with Nikon's Spot On web site the BDC reticle has never been more effective. Got to Nikonhunting.com, click on the Spot On logo and register (it's all FREE) and then you can enter all your shooting data including your scope and away you go.

I like my Burris scope. its a great optic at a decent price and you have to try to break it. never had any problems and saved $200 over the leupold

Check out the Sightron SII and SIII line of scopes. I have 5 of them on my rifles and will probably get more. Lifetime warranty, bright and sharp optics, plus great service if you ever need it.

I'll vote for Leupold. But try to get a step up from the Rifleman series. They're ok but their optics aren't as sharp as the VX scopes.

i was at work today and it was kinda slow so i went and look at scopes i think im going to go with leupold vx 2 3x9x40. I work at gander mountain in the hunting department the brands i looked at were zeiss leupold and nikon. thats for all the feed back
