Remington 870 refurb project help

I was given an 870 express super mag that saw heavy field use and spent some time submerged under water on a duck hunt fowl up ... c'mon... that was funny!

Anyway, it has sentimental value and rather than toss it I am going to strip it down, clean it up, and get it back in action. My biggest headache is how to remove the shell latches. They are pretty rusted and need to be Flitzed and wire brushed along with the inside of the receiver. I know they will need to be restaked to be reinstalled, but how do I remove them without messing up them or the receiver???
