You might want to get a serial number on there ASAP.

This gun probably predates the serial number requirement. Plenty of guns out there have no serial number.

However, I would be interested to know the status of the manufacturer license or legality of this little gem.

Definitely an interesting piece.

If you manufacture your own firearms, there is no requirement to put a serial number on it, even today. It is strongly suggested you put some identifying marks on it, but it is not a legal requirement, as long as it does not fall under the NFA.

Check out the BATF website for particulars.

Is the barrel rifled?
That would be the main thing.

After our legislators save us from ourselves that might be the only gun left.

I wouldn't register it. Keep it and if anyone asks it's just a hunk of junk that isn't a real gun.

What is the definition of a, 'Zip' gun anyhow? A gun that will just zip you away to the ER or what?

I think the term is negative and is used to conjure-up images of a 1950s inner citiy high school thug. Our example looks like a legitimate, resourse gathering attempt, from a 1930s laid-off apprentice machinist whom needed a pistol.

I don't know the origin of the term "zip gun", but they were generally home made, in .22 caliber, and with barrels made from auto radio antennas. They were common enough that the government worked with auto makers to use antenna rod too small to take a cartridge. (Gun control in sneaky ways, as usual.)

I have always considered the Liberator pistol a government made "zip gun".

yes it does fire, i need to redo the " sear " pin , where it will catch better, but it will still fire if you hold the firing pin / rod back.

Hilarious

I found the tactical version to be a LOLer also. And Sigshr -I learned something new about FP Liberator. I didn't know such a thing was ever produced in an American factory. Of course I may be wrong about that when you consider Hi Point pistols.

Okay. Now let's see those targets.

3" groups at 25 yards should be easy if you stick to the fundamentals.
