What would be good starting load for hornady 130 gr sp with reloder 7 and and cci lg rifle bench rest primers? I have win mod 70 with 18.5 in barrel ported crowned and flips east texas deer with 125 gr @ 50-120 yds first time every time.

I don't reload that bullet with Reloder 7 as it is reserved for my .222, but I DO load it over 50.0 or 51.0 of WW 748 and CCI 200 primers. In the LC 68 cases I'm using 50.0 and in the RP commercial brass I use 51.0. It cycles the action on my 742 just fine and puts all the brass in an 18 inch circle. I started using the 130 after a friend told me how well it worked on deer; as in BANG, FLOP. He uses 125 factory ammo also. Generally I shoot 150s for Bambi, and the 130 is going to be tested this year because I have 200 rounds loaded up and I need the brass for other loads. I have shot a couple of 'chucks with it and it hits them so hard they fly up into the air. It has a thin jacket, so if a shot presents itself I'm going to take a broadside shot. A couple guys I know use it in the 30/30 and 30 Herrett in their Contenders. Hope this helps. Enjoy. CB.
