Guns used in self defense stories?

Is there a collection point for these stories? I know they are less likely to get news coverage but there must be somewhere to find more stories of weapons used in self defense.
Occasionally Freerepublic.com runs some stories but there must be more somewhere.

You can buy an NRA membership and get a free subscription to the American Rifleman magazine.

The Firing Line should consider capturing this kind of story in a sticky thread - it would be useful to have verifiable incidences of an armed citizen stopping a deadly force crime available to refute the argument that we are not a deterrent or a counterweight to crime.

Unfortunately, such stories don't refute either. Anecdotal data are notoriously flawed, and as a matter of logic, stories in which a gun was used (whether fired or not fired) to stop a crime have no relationship to deterrence.
Deter:
to prevent or discourage someone from doing something:
High prices are deterring a lot of young couples from buying houses.

If memory serves, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) has or used to have a data base of self defense stories.
They have a web site and facebook account.

If one wants data and not just shoot 'em stories of DGUs. The starting point is Point Blank by Gary Kleck. It is an award winning criminology book. Kind of dated now but makes the point.

Tom Givens at rangemaster.com has a collection of incidents from his students for more of a 'story' type.

The most current and best one I know of is the Defensive Gun Use subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/dgu/

No one can ever quantify the number of crimes that have been deterred, they didn't occur, and/or someone else was selected as the victim.

The use of firearms to prevent the completion of a crime has been fairly well documented, though. Kleck and Lott are the best data sources.
