870 trigger technique

OK. When I shoot my Glocks, I keep the trigger depressed and only release enough to "reset" before firing again. Works great.
Can I use this same method for shooting my 870?
I have been doing some mounting and firing drills (empty) and I noticed that I could keep the trigger depressed while cycling the pump and then release enough for reset and pull again.
Is this OK or am I risking damage to my 870?

Such are the virtues of the older shotguns like the Win 97, Win M12, and Ithaca 37. Just keep the trigger down when you pump.

IMO, it'd take a good stopwatch to show the difference in speed, Mike. If it works for you, and you want to, why not?

Tom Knapp, the exhibition shooter, uses a shotgun which does have a disconnector in the trigger group. He has to pull and release just like we do. His beating the great Herb Parsons' record is an example of technique being more inportant than technology. Parsons, according to Brister, set his record of 7 handthrown clays with his Model 12 by"Holding down the trigger and pumping like Hell".
