I have a few extra 10/22 LR bolt buffers that I'm offering to the members here. These are the urethane rod "TUFFER BUFFERS" - the best on the market! what exactly are these and how do they work? Where do you install them at. Do they work? anyone?

The top picture shows one installed. It replaces the rear pin in the 10/22 receiver and provides something other than steel-to-steel contact for the bolt when it reaches the end of travel.

It also buffers the force by providing some shock-absorption so that the bolt impact is not transmitted directly to the aluminum receiver. In a silenced 10/22, I suppose it also reduces the action noise somewhat.

You might want to post this in the WTS page. Its in the retail deals and feedback section. These are great and I use them in my 10/22's and they last a long time.

yeah these and many others like them help with the bink" nosie the 10/22 makes when the bolt slams back. make sure to keep a spare buffer handy, because they do break/breakdown after several thousand uses, but they sure do quiet down the 10/22.

Also, depending on which kind of buffer you get you might want to remove it when cleaning with solvents. I had one litterally turn to goo when hoppes solvent came in contact with it.
