Are there two different types of 2400 powder?
Or is the aliant powder the only H2400?
Thanks Pards

As far as I know, the only 2400 powder is Alliant as was Hercules.

But you have to be careful, there are so many ersatz powders with similar sounding alphanumerics.

Walipala Hmm Pala indian reservation?
Yes I have surfed Tourmaline, but mostly La Jolla Shores.
Surfing and Shooting the best of both worlds.

"Walipala" is actually an Australian aboriginal term. Long story.

I used to surf the Shores religiously... I live five minutes away, in Clairemont. For no particular reason I've been mainly surfing PB this past Summer. Now with Summer waining I've done some inventory and noticed that I am low on ammo for my other hobbie, shooting. (well, one of my other hobbies anyway. I do a lot of bike riding also.) Plus I guess I'm just in the mood to do some reloading.

It's also getting to be desert season again! It's always fun to take my .44 Marlin out there for target shooting, when we aren't fourwheeling or just relaxing. I started a thread here about .44 mag powders because I want to find a load that's accurate but isn't such a shoulder puncher.

I love the Imperial Valley for shooting and fishing the All American.
Good to hear about another real person who lives in California.
Good shoting.
Longboard.
p.s. I live in Clairemont too. Do you drive a Range Rover?

Walipala, you might try some H4227. It's a slower burning powder than H110; will drive your bullets almost as fast, but the recoil seems to be less - more a good push than a punch.

With my Marlin, it will push a 180gr XTP to about 2100fps. Pretty flat trajectory out to 100 yds. My accuracy load is 28.6gr using a CCI 350 primer (LPM).

Lot of good suggestions out there and a lot of options. I actually decided today to try Blue Dot at the suggestion of a couple of people, both on this board and in the shop where I was looking today.

Antipitas: I have some work-ups with 180-gr XTPs on Unique (10.0 to 12.0 grain w/ WLP primers) that I have yet to try. I'm hoping the lighter bullets will work better with Unique.... since heavier ones didn't for me.

Longboard: Not a Range Rover. I usually drive a Ford Focus, but when I need more room or when I go camping I drive my Scout II.
