reloading gear in Houston

Stumbled onto a neat little store in Houston, carries only reloading stuff, everything from cast bullets, molds, dies, powder, primers. No guns, but they are the only place I have found that actually stocks cast bullets in quantity.

What's the name, and what part of town? (Houston is a big place)

No water on the fire here, but I'd ask where the lead came from. Then, just check it out. There is good hard cast lead (leading to no problems with leading or accuracy), and the other.
Don't mean to insult your intelligence, you probably already know this.

So, are you going to share the name and location of this neat little store with us or is this just a teaser?

I would guess this (http://www.10ring.com/ ) is the “secret” place the OP was referring to. Even if you know it’s there, it’s hard to find.
Location: East of Eldridge and West of Jones on Cypress N. Houston. The sign is hard to find. Open 7 days a week. They close at 5:00pm.

I’ve bought 95% of my supplies from them.
Bryan and his dad are good people.
Jennifer, well I think I have a crush on her. She’s sold the most stuff to me.
Michael, works Saturdays. He knows reloading. Weekends seem to bring in LEO’s and gun-nuts who want to show off "stuff" and tell stories.

Prices match Midway + shipping.
If prices go up, they just seem to leave the old stickers on.

Bottom Line: This ain’t Gander Mountain or even Carter’s Country. (and that’s a good thing)

OP was probably keeping it a secret to try and keep the rest of you in Houston from buying out the store......

It is too bad that there is not a big supplier of reloading gear here in houston. I would think that it would do well.

I pick up powder and primers (sometimes) out at ASC on westheimer. They usually have a decent stock to supply with of the bigger containers. Bass pro is absolutely hit or miss. Some times I find the shelves crammed full and other times nothing.

Mostly I have resorted to mail-ordering from Cabellas and Laser-Cast and Powder valley. Midway gets my odds and ends orders.

I really wish there was more of this stuff on the north side. I live in the Woodlands and I really hate making a 45 minute drive to go pick stuff up.

I am waiting on delivery of a Lee Loadmaster and am looking forward to learning to reload for my pistol s and rifles. There is a range out here that says they will let me collect all the brass I want but I still need an affordable source for bullets.

For the Springfield 03A3 I have found collet pulled 168 gr. 30 cal for pretty cheap. But for the 45ACP I’m not seeing a lot of options.

all the brass you want?

I would really appreciate the name of the range that lets you pick up all the brass you want. I want to get into making 25-06 caliber cases out of some 30-06 cases if I can get them.

I have to say the Store has alot, but has been hit pretty hard with Christmas and all. As for bullets they stock all the cast for hand guns. I had to go to Berry's online for some more popular hand gun sizes and rifle bullets. But I bought my whole setup from the store, a real hit for me I am less then 15 minutes from the store.

Great find in Houston and good pricing.

The range I was referring to is Thunder Ranch. The road it’s on is FM 1314. It’s maybe a quarter or half mile south from 242 between I-45 and HWY 59. I have one of there targets here and it says:

Thunder Gun Range
17234 FM 1314

Their phone is : 281-429-7138

Re: Thunder Gun Range

That's really close to my parents' house. Is it just a gun range, or do they sell reloading supplies too?

Pretty much just a gun range but one of the big plus is that they have a 300 yrd range.

Also their pistol rang is set up with pulleys so you can adjust the distance to your target. Really great for practicing point and shoot. You can start with the target at 3 or 5 ft and gradually extend it out to I guess maybe 50 ft. Last time out I had it out to maybe 20 ft and was hitting in the black on those “Shoot – n – See” targets.

I just now came from 10ring.
WHAT A COOL COOL PLACE.
Dont forget to hit on the girl who works there - it is like an inside joke - ask her if she "still wants to go to France" - apparently some guy offered to take her there - one look at her and you'll know why.

Anyway, they have presses, bulletts, powder, tips, primers, tools, and great advice in a friendly environment - COOL AS HECK.

Thanks for the tip.

I got 100 rounds of Factory 25-06 brass, a hand primer, flash tool, and a shell holder for my soon to arrive trimmer.
WHAT ELSE YOU WANT?

Now I need to post a threat on how to prep (if at all) these 100 factory cases so I can go experiment with my Sendero.

Glad you liked 10 Ring. (Jennifer is in love with me, but I'm married.)

I’d like to see them succeed like nobody’s business. The political climate seems to be right. I hope all the reloaders in north Houston find out about them.

BTW if you start collecting brass from Thunder Ranch and I get out there, I’d like to trade 45 ACP for 30-06.

If any of my Houston bros need any CCI BR2 primers, let me know.
I have enough to go around.

Sure. I dont think I will be there before Febuary, but we maybe could go together?
my personal email is [email protected] if you weant to get in touch.

Supposedly, there is a guy named Mike working at 10ring on Saturday (today) who knows LOTS about reloading. I many give him a call with some of these extra benchrest primers I have and see if he needs some.

Sorry guys, have been away

Wasn't teasing, yes it is 10ring, has just about everything I like. I drove all over the Houston area looking for cast bullets in bulk, nobody stocks them any more. Then the shooting range on 290 gave me the number for 10ring, and I went right over.

With one foot still not in the door, I could see this is what I have been looking for for years.

And yeah the little gal there is fun.

They have a good stock of most stuff, seems that now when they re-order they only get part of what they order, so is slow to restock.

Check out the anti-terrorist t-shirts they sell. My kind of place.

Oh yeah, they also STOCK Lee bullet molds (with handles). How many places have you found that do that?
