Reload for 44 desert eagle
I have h110 and was wondering if anyone has loaded 44 mags to use in the desert eagle and what charge they use. it seems that it takes a hard hitting magnum round to make this gun cycle without hanging up so I know I cant use to light of a load. thanks

Go to the Hodgdon web site. Their recipe with H110/W296 and a 240 JHP will work very well. I suggest you begin with their starting load(23gr with a WLP).

Unfortunately Desert Eagles seem to be one of those guns where it’s all or nothing. By that I mean its full on magnum loads or the gun won’t cycle properly. Also lead bullets are a big no no, they can and will clog the gas ports.

I'm one of those kooks who refuses to try H110 or W296.
I'd be happy to try Accurate #9. But in the mean time, Alliant 2400 has me covered in any application that calls for H110. It's not quite as slow as H110, so it won't give me that last bit of performance that H110 will, but it does what I ask it with a nice smooth curve and as a bonus, I get no manufacturer warnings about reducing the load too much and I get no call nor need for a magnum primer. My go-to load to make a Desert Eagle in .44 Magnum run like a top is a Nosler 240-gr JHP pushed by 21.1 grains of 2400, and loaded to a COAL of 1.570", and lit off with CCI-300 non-magnum large pistol primers. Runs all day long, nice and accurate too.
