.45 acp & .45-70 question
I am wanting to reload my .45 acp and .45-70 for just plinking. I have looked in the manuals and the biggest bullet listed for the .45 acp is smaller than the smallest listed for my .45-70. So my question is if there is a bullet that will work with both guns? And if so where do I get the loading data? I have 6 different manuals and none of them have one bullet that will work for both guns.

45 ACP is .452 in diameter. 45-70 is .458. Can't be done.

Well, you can but it's not easy. You could paper patch up to .458, but why bother?

It probably SHOULDN'T be done. You'll find that even among other .45 calibers the bullet is different. .45 Auto is .451, I think .45 LC is .452 and heavier for example. Though I've seen that the Berry's cast .45 Auto bullets are .452 I assume that's somehow related to being cast over jacketed, I haven't gotten too into that since my range doesn't allow non-jacketed.
