I need a list of the TWIST the manufacturers use on the RIFLE barrels and, the bullets that shoot best with each twist.

I know this is not an answer, but I don't think there is such a list. Rifle makers and independent barrel makers choose a twist for a barrel which is appropriate to the weight, length, and velocity of the bullet they think will be most commonly used in that barrel. Different companies can have different ideas depending on their own testing and experience. For .30, a 1-10 twist is probably the most common, but that is not true across the board.

The twist used by one rifle maker will vary by caliber and even with ammunition development, as different bullet lengths and weights come into use. Your question is a bit like asking for a list of all the engine sizes ever put into cars. An answer may be possible, but obtaining the info would not be easy.

Jim Keenen is correct and it can be frustrating, say if you are writing a specification for a custom rifle, to find a source of information on what twist to put down for the rifle you have in mind. One thing that you can do is get information from a barrel maker for what he recommends for his own barrels.
I myself go by what Shilen recommends. If you write him for information, he will send this to you.
See http://www.shilen.com
Shilen gives optimal twist rates for bore diameter by bullet bullet weight. Each bore diameter has an optimal twist for bullets of a cetain weight in the Shilen system.
There may be other ways to do this, but Shilen barrels are famous for their accuracy, so I just figure he knows best.

Fantastic!

Thanks, Harley from all of us. Your contribution will certainly go a long way toward answering MADISON's question. You are truly a scholar and a gentleman.

I would like to add; that in choosing a barrel, the smoothness of the barrel is also important. As I recall, the term, check "8" is about as smooth as it can get.

There is an outfit in SD, I think, that makes accurized synthetic stocks for Remington in their Model 700 SP. I had him over to the Law Enforcement Training Center here, and he had some darn fine rifles.

We tested several different calibers for our counter sniper program, he even has a take-down model, we were impressed. The take-down model is available in a several barrel and caliber set. This one really impressed me.

He also will fine tune and make barrels. I understand he will do Mausers and most all rifles. The name of the company, if my memory serves, Something Presision or Presion something. The owner's first name is Tom. Again if my memory serves, he is a Bench Rest Champion from some time ago. Hell of a fine fella. Doesn't try to smoke you with trivia.

Wish I didn't suffer from CRS (Cant't Remember Stuff)

The frustration comes from marrying the ammo with the gun. It can be long and tedious. Finding the right combination of Powder, bullet length, weight, and length of barrel takes time and of course money. However, if you want to have the best and be the best it is time well spent.
