"IPSC Production Division" Glock 17 or CZ SP-01 ???

Hi folks,

Since the introduction of the new CZ SP-01 on the market, it seems the Glock 17 has a serious opponent in the IPSC Production Division !

Wich one did you choose ?

Thanks for advance.

While I like to shoot the CZ better I think the Glock is a better choice for a competition gun. Glocks are simple, reliable, accurate enough, and the aftermarket is amazing. The CZ is also a great gun, but virtually no aftermarket . The other huge advantage for the Glock is a consistent trigger pull. I feel that a consistent trigger pull for all 10 shots is better than a DA pull followed by 9 crisp SA pulls. When you tune the trigger of the Glock the pull is VERY nice and as good as a stock CZ SA pull. The last big thing I can think of is magazines, Glock magazines are absolutely fantastic quality and very cheap. Getting good CZ magazines isn't as easy and they are a lot more expensive when you do find good ones.

I like the CZ more, and would take more pleasure in owning a CZ, but I think the Glock makes more sense.

I have played with both the G34 and the SP01..

My G34 was pretty trick..had a Vanek trigger and Dawson sights on it..trigger was about 1.5 pounds and the gun was very accurate and reliable..

what I did not prefer was the grip angle..which you could train too..the narrow magwell..really had to focus on making smooth reloads..even after 6 months of serious work with it..it was the one area where I still needed to pay attention too..also for me the gun was a little too light.

I have been shooting a SP01 for the past four months..and have really been pleased with this gun. It is pretty trick too..It has an action job on it..with the DA at 5.5 to 6 pounds and the single action at 1.75 to 2 pounds. and new sights. I really like the balance and weight of the gun as well as the grip angle. Mags were easy to find and as cheap as the glock mags..no worry on drop free either.. The gun is very accurate and every bit as reliable as my Glock was.. the magwell is easier to reload too..as the CZ mags have little more taper to them.

CZ-USA has established a good source of spare parts as well as Angus Hobdel and Jim Miossi..

With the rules of production division..you really cannot do much to the guns...for the Glock 17...sights, action job, replace the mag release with a G34 extended one and get a bunch of mags..

the CZ..sights, action job, and get a bunch of mags..

add grip tape to both, get a good holster, belt and pouches and you are good to go..

right now my preference is for the SP01 for the reasons I said..but that is all pretty personal..you may like the Glock...they are great guns..or you may like the CZ..they are also great guns...

for production division guns..lots of choices now..which is great..might look at the SIG226ST or the Springfield XD tactical as well...
