How about giving us a little more to work with instead of the equivalent of "I have a gun. What is it?"

Is it a revolver?

A semi-automatic?

Is it a break top, or does the cylinder swing out to the side?

What cartridge is it chambered for (it should be marked on the barrel)?

How many rounds does the cylinder hold if it's a revolver?

Hi, Blamm, I forgot to come back to this.

OK, from what you're saying it looks like you have a K frame .38 Smith & Wesson, also known to the British as the .380-200 Revolver cartridge, that was made for British service in World War II.

After the war many of these came back to the US on the secondary market, at which time they were nickle plated.

If a WWII era gun the serial number on the butt should be all numbers.
