I have an old S&W revolver in 32 caliber
The gun is in excellent condition with a four inch barrel.
Finish is blue.
On the barrel are the inscriptions:
Smith & Wesson Springfield Mass.U.S.A
Pat'D March 27.94.AUG.4.96.DEC.22.96.OCT.8.01
DEC.17.01.FEB.6.06.SEPT.14.09

Further on the barrel are the markings:
S & W 32 Long CTG
Serial # 169230

Can someone inform me on the model of this S&W ?
Do you have any idea when it was fabricated ?

Sounds like .32 hand ejector. .32 S& W long, 3 1/4",4 1/4" or six inch round barrel. Pinned barrel serial # range 102,501-263,000. Manufactured 1910 to 1917. Model of 1903 fifth change.

As Ned states, it is most likey a 5th model .32 Hand Ejector. Does it have a swing-out cylinder or is it a break-open action? If a swing-out cylinder, does it have a cylinder latch on the left side of the frame or does it open by pulling the cylinder pin?
The Saftey Hammerless (the Lemon Squeezer)was produced in .32 S&W also. This is a break-open action. As it's name implies, it has no visible hammer plus it has a grip safely ala 1911 pattern semi-autos. It is a five-shot revolver.

Ned or Harley or Jim or...
Did the various changes in the Hand Ejector have the company name, address and patent dates on the barrel or the cylinder like the original?
