Glock 30 v. Glock 26: your thoughts.

Hi
Which would you prefer between G30 and G26? How does caliber difference effect your choice in these sub compacts? I dont hear much about G30...why?

I had both the 30 (and the 29) and still have the 26.

The 30 and 29 were just too fat for me to love. I carried the 29 for a while but never really liked its fat grip. I could live with it but I don't choose to.

The Glock 9mm grip size is just fine. I have no problem with the 9mm as a defense caliber.

Sure I would like a Glock in 45 ACP that was the same size and grip of the Sub Compacts (19/23 et al.) but not in 45 Gap or the Glock 36 (had one of those too and did not like it either-I dislike when the mag is part of my grip).

So for me its the 26. If I wanted a 45 or a 10mm I would look at another maker other than Glock, and I am a Glock guy.

Does Glock 30SF help in shrinking that fat grip?

The SF shrinks it around back strap to trigger for index finger.

Not much else as far as shrinking any other part of the 30.

No not for me. SF=Still Fat, the reach for the trigger is a little less and its slightly better but not enough for me. For some it makes a "big" difference but that is not my opinion.

I have heard of some issues with some of the SF models but I'm not sure which ones.

I have small hands and have no problems with the Glock 30 grip. There is something about 11 rounds of .45 that make me smile. This gun has been more reliable than any 1911 I've ever owned. It gobbles every type of ammo I throw at it. With a polish job and OEM 3.5 connector this baby shines. A Glock armorer who services handguns for a major department tried it out. He noticed the work right away and was very impressed with recoil and trigger. The thing has less felt recoil than my Glock 22 or 27. A fantastic gun. I carry mine more for a woods gun when not lugging a .44. It is a bit thick for normal CCW, but can be done. I won't part with mine.

Yeah, the G30 is the same size as G19/23, but thicker. I also have G26, and it feels great, lighter even w/ A&G grip extension for G19 15 rds mag. Also, the choice is really yours; 11 rds of .45 or 16 of 9mm.
