Just placed an order for a 17 Ackley Hornet and a 300-221 (300 Whisper)from Virgin Valley (they are having a sale on shorty barrels). I would like to purchase needed equipment for case forming and reloading before the barrels arrive. I have been reloading for several years, but only with standard calibers, so now I need advice on reloading these two particular calibers. My questions are what additional equipment is needed aside from the dies, etc., and what brands of reloading equipment seems to provide the best results, or is this just personal preference (I currently use RCBS, Redding, and Dillon)? Do I need a neck reamer? Also, any advice from experienced loaders on case forming, special techniques for these particular calibers, or general advice for a novice with wildcats. Thanks in advance for your help.

Cris, give Todd Kindler a call about the .17 Ackley Hornet. He's the man when it comes to the seventeens- http://www.smallcaliber.com / 330-897-0614 Baltic, OH
I can't think of a better source of info for the Whisper than JD Jones http://www.sskindustries.com / 740-264-0176 -unless I'm mistaken, JD developed this cartridge, among many others. HTH / bk |
