No phone service with Bud's

www.budsgunshop.com

I tried to set my buddy up with a deal with buds, and they seem to be impossible to reach by phone. I think there CS is going away as I tried to call them many times lately (1-7-2011)

He doesn't have a computer, and really he needs to get a replacement handgun for a good price which Bud's seems to have (long story short), and I'm done trying to find him good deal's like Bud's has. (LSS) He actually wants a Taurus 605, and I couldn't convince him on a Ruger SP101.

In fact, this whole thing has strained my relationship with my buddy trying to help him (old dog) get a gun, and I no longer speak to him right now.

What's up with Bud's?

They were posting a message on their website a few days ago that the Christmas season was slowing things down. Not taking up for them. Frankly, I don't know why it is your responsibility to get this guy a good price on a gun. If he doesn't like their service, he should move onto another seller.

Any "friendship" that can be lost because you're not doing work that should be his to do and not doing it fast enough for his tastes is not much of a friendship, and not much of a loss.

On the issue of Buds, why don't you just order it in his name? There's nothing wrong with you using your computer to enter his information when he's the one buying the gun. Enter his info, the FFL of his choice, he picks up the gun, it's his purchase, you're just the typist.

But, again, if he got grumpy about it, I'd tell him to do it himself..... of course, I also wouldn't have talked him out of the gun he wants and into the one I wanted him to have... that may have something to do with his attitude, frankly.

Help the Buddy buy a computer with the money he saved by Buds not answering....then next time he can use his own computer to get a gun.

Sorry.... that one slipped out.

Retail for a Taurus in this town (S. NV) is going to be more than the Ruger from Bud's.

I tried taking care of the old fart (70ish). I got to let this one go. Another lost sale for Bud's, not the first time. I'm sure they won't miss me!

Why would you not just order on-line?

There is something missing to this story. Why didn't you just invite him over for coffee and have him use your computer to order?

No problem for me.

I called www.budsgunshop.com last Thursday was on hold for a while but they finally answered. I then had to call the store (different number) got an answering machine left my number and was called back Friday.

Went to store (range) today to shoot and the place was slammed all 10 lanes were full along with two of reactive lanes was busy, with a waiting list of about 8 shooters. All the counters were full and no parking places to be found.
It was not this busy the week before Christmas but the gun show is down town Lexington today and I am guessing it is bringing in a lot of out of towners.

They sell a large number of firearms on line and they don't have to staff to personally speak to each person they sell to. And if they did they would not be able to sell with the small markup they have. The prices in the store are higher than on line and it is to support the sales staff.

There's a lot missing, TMI.

I guess I could have ordered it on line, but he's an untrusting person, so to heck with him, and I'll let him pay $500+ for a darn Taurus if he buy's it at a gun store.

To bad, I tried to do what I thought was right and just.

8Shot- Buy yourself a cup of coffee and relax. You did the right thing by trying to help him. It's all a part of that "fight the good fight" thing- and you did. If it comes up with the guy, tell him you tried to help him, things didn't work out with what you had to work with, and if he can't live with it- tell him it might be a good as of a time as any to learn to do things for himself. But for your part- you tried. Now go get that cup of coffee and call it done.

I don't buy coffee, and I don't call it done, if I have to stuff that Ruger down his throat, that's what he is getting!

Wow.

Sounds like both of you are reasonable, even keeled guys. I can't imagine how this situation could go bad.

I could have got him one for $409 new (605) OTD, or a Ruger (SP101 3") for $514 new OTD, $80 more for a new Ruger SP101.

Don't know what to say, he's 68, and I'm only 43.

Some people just don't listen.

Actually, Shane, let's go ahead and close this one. The deal is done, and no one is going to fix the original problem of Bud's phone service here in this thread.

I moved it without warning the members that the Feedback forum has specific rules, so closing it may save some grief.
