Trouble getting components !!!
I posted this at 1911.com also.
I went to get more bulk components yesterday. I use Excel plated bullets for my reloading in 9 mil and .45. Where I buy my stuff is a MAJOR ammunition distribution warehouse. Anyway, I asked for a box of 1k 125gr PRN bullets. At $40/box it beats $10/box of 100 Hornady's to put into a berm. I was told that their supply was getting low with no timeline on when they will be re-supplied. The Excel bullets are made in Canada. After 9/11, the good ole' Gov't is NOT allowing shipments of dangerous objects, components, parts, etc. to cross the border (yet). He called the agency responsible and was told that the trucks are ready to roll, and the paperwork was on her desk, ready to go. However, they needed authorization to allow said shipment to cross the border, (not in the forseeable future). Hell, these are only bullets, not loaded rounds! We also surmised that IMR is likely going through the same red tape. Anyone have a similar experience? Heard anything like this in your area

Hate to say this, but I never heard of Excel bullets. What usually happens to me is when I find a nice off brand bullet that I like, the company ends up going out of business. There was a cast bullet maker up in Tempe, AZ. The lead bullets were darn near perfect, and hard as hell. They never leaded up my barrels wven when I pushed a 38Super past 1200 FPS. The company kept the prices way down to compete with Meister and other bigger comapnies and could survive on the margin. Cryin' shame.
Components not being allowed into the US after 9/11? I'll believe anything when it comes to gubbermint beaurocratic stupidity.

http://www.berrysmfg.com Either of those companies produce fine plated bullets that are probably around what you are paying for already. West Coast will cut you an even better deal on shipping if you order 200 lbs or more at one time. Gather your reloading friends, and put in a big order. |

Why not just cast your own bullets?
