Pistol safe
I have been thinking about getting one of those quick access pistol safes.
It is a hassle to get into my closet unlock my safe and put my carry piece away, plus I would like to have quick accsess to a pistol in my living room (were I spend too much time in front of the tv). I am wondering how quick they are to open, If they will certinely keep a pistol secure from my kids and what happens if the battery dies? is there a key lock for such a situation? any advice from experience would be great.

I've got the StackOn brand drawer box (opens from the top so you can keep it in a drawer). It has a push button 4 digit lock with key override. For my needs, it is fine.

As far as the battery situation, it is probably setup like my big safe i have with a digital keypad. On that, the battery is accessible from the outside of the safe, just pop off the key pad and its behind it. It stores the code while the battery is out.
The way I plan to do it though is to replace the battery regularly and do it with the safe open just incase something funky happens. |
