Marlin 30-AS Serial number.

I have an old Marlin 30AS that was given to me many years ago.
I am looking for the serial number and cannot find it!!
Anybody know where it is located on the gun??

I thought they were under the lever like this one.

The 30AS was introduced in '83, so it should have a number on it.
