30-378 Weatherby light loads?

Unfortunatly I cannot purchase another deer rifle this year due to unforseen surcumstance so I was pondering using one of my other rifles this year and "make" it work. I was considering downloading my 30-378 to somewhere near 308 or 30-06 velocities to help save the meat and the barrel. Will downloading this cartridge help throat erosion? My question is what powder would get me less than 300 fps with 165gn bullets, probably Barnes new triple shock. I bought this rifle a few years ago for elk and moose hunting so most of the time it sits in the safe.
