Ak questions

Ok so I'm an AK newbie. I'm an AR guy. But I recently traded into two ak's.
One is a Romanian wasr 10 on a slide fire stock. I have a question on it. And my confusion may come from Internet mis-info. Mine is I'm assuming a 2013 build since after the serial it reads -13 RO. However it is only stamped WASR 10. Not GP WASR 10. And from info I read it should read the later. It has bayo lug and the flash hider with threaded barrel. On the reverse side is ROMARM/CUGIR. AND ROMANIA AND CAI GEORGIA VT.
I assume it's just a run of the mill wasr though. Correct?

The other is a mak 90. It has an angle cut receiver. My question on it is how hard is it to find aftermarket stocks to fit the angle cut.

Thanks in advance.

My guess is between $500 and $570. That's without the slidefire stock. Some of those slidefire stocks can be expensive, depending on which one is on the rifle.

I think Skans is right on the price. With a slide fire, you could get another $100-$200.

I've decided to keep the mak 90. Add a different stock, grip and hand guard. I'll use Tapco mags for it to keep it 922 compliant. The fact no muzzle device will make only 9 foreign parts so im under the 10.
I removed the slide fire stock from the wasr and ordered a Bulgarian poly set for $30. Gonna sell the slide fire and gun separate. Thanks for the info guys.

The thing about WASR-10's is that there seem to have been two different variations of them to some extent. The ones in the early to mid 2000's had that blond Dragunov style stock, and if I am not mistaking had parts that were interchangeable with the SAR series of Romanian rifles. The SAR series was closer to mil-spec in machinery, and tolerances. The newer WASR-10 rifles or the GP series of rifles usually come with the Tapco G2 trigger group.

The bolt and bolt carrier from the newer WASR-10 rifles (last 8 years give or take) will fit into a SAR series rifle, but the SAR bolt and bolt carrier will not fit into the newer GP WASR-10's. If it has the bay lug and the threaded barrel its most likely a newer model.

From the serial number I believe it's a 2013 model. Here it is now.

Good looking rifle. How does she run at the range?

Both are good AK's.

WASR's get a bad rep, but they have improved recently. I had a WASR10 as my first AK back in 2011 and it shot accurately and reliably.

I don't know much about the MAK90's, but generally the chinese AK's are known to be good. I have Saiga AK's now since I like the Russian AK's more.

Congrats to your new acquisition and happy shooting!

i agree with Justice06RR posted, the newer WASRs, especially being a CUGIR build, are worth every red cent that you paid/traded for it, and with the slidefire stock and G2 trigger, you're taking about a sweet AKM, i would sell the MAK90 and keep WASR with slidefire stock because WASR can be so easily customized, in fact put the slidefire stock back on the WASR, but beware, it will get pricey from all mag dumps you will be doing with it, psychohellbilly666.

I recently bought a new production WASR as well. Like yours mine says WASR 10 and not GP. I think they may have ran out of the demilled GP WASR parts. Mine also has the bayo lug and the tapco g2 trigger. Shoots great. I put a Chris Bonesteel side folding stock on it.

I actually traded the slide fire stock for a Taurus 38 sock revolver. I figured a stock for a decent pocket gun is a no brainier.

well you sorta traded away about as close as a full-auto AKM that you could get these days psychohellbilly666, but you can still rapid fire that WASR with the G2 trigger, they are nice triggers, and unlike that MAK90, the WASR is far easier to customize, as you all ready notice with putting the Bulgy furniture on it, sure that MAK90 is "worth" more $$$, but they're harder to to customize, and it is my firm opinion you keep the WASR and sell the MAK90, heck down the road you may find another slidefire stock for the WASR at a good price, psychohellbilly666. oh almost forgot, if you can, see if someone wants to trade you a PSL for that MAK90.
