Maybe this is a dumb question but why is the FLGR such a negative for you?
Also I didn't know about the relief cut -- that rocks! Nice stock feature.

Swipes the black steel 1911 has the 5" barrel. I also carry the champion with the 4" barrel when I wear shorts during the summer.

I had a xse commander and my sample of one was problematic,Its the only Colt Ive had problems with,It seamed to be the dimpled barrel might have been out of speck as it Did not like any ammo I tried. My Springfield that I replaced it with has after 3 years yet to have a failure of any kind. But any
manufaturer can have one slip through now and again, and I know several
that have them and narry a problem.

Nope, not a dumb question.

Springfield uses a two piece guide rod. That means the two pieces are screwed together. Threads and recoil have a way of disjoining if you know what I mean. When that happens, because you forgot to check the guide rod during the middle of a shooting session, you will have fun getting the gun apart to fix the issue.

John Browning designed the guide rod the way he did, for a reason, and I have no desire to attempt to improve upon that feature of his fine design.
