springfield 5100

I bought a springfield 5100 reciever a few days ago, not sure what gauge
it is.
on the left side in front of the breech face is markd with a letter H
in a circle followed by M M 1
on the right side is stamped a small square
on the bottom below the pin is stampd #7
what guage is it or how to gauge it.
The breech face hase the case coloring in tact doesnt appear to have
any marksing from fireing the gun, the reciever is new looking.

It's a Stevens. It should also say Stevens Arms Co, Chicopee Falls. Stevens dropped the Springfield name in 48 and merged it with the 311 in 49, so good luck on finding barrels and forend iron. Early 311 barrels will probably work but I've been trying to find barrels for a 311A for some time with no luck. I don't think the receiver is coded for gauge altho 12 & 16 share the same receiver. As do 20 & 28.
