let's see, what did I do this week...
sold 3 guns...
- 1926 Parker Brothers VHE SxS 16 gauge - 1935 Fox Sterlingworth SxS 12 gauge - 1974 Browning B2000 2-3/4" 12 gauge Looking for something to buy, and maybe even keep! Last two days I shot two 5 star sporting clay courses. Over 400 shells expended! Had a great time. Used one of my 20 gauge Browning Citoris both days. Life is good... |

I didn't do anything like that, but I had a half decent day shooting trap on Wednesday and the following day I took my son shooting to celebrate getting his MCAT exam behing him. I shot my Citori XS Skeet a bit better than the day before and he shot my old Remington 870. Life is good.

Welcome aboard, Isabella.
OK Slugo, I have to disagree. Selling off those classics was possibly not a good thing. Are you making room by selling off safe queens? Considering the fine looking guns you've showed us, I think you should buy a tricked out Saiga. Just for contrast..... What courses did you shoot? We may be up in central PA over the summer and I'd like to try a few new courses. I will hit Warrior's Mark again, I like the presentations and the people, but there's new shots to try.... |

Dave, here's a brief list of local, better than average central PA sporting clay venues. Would love to join you and act as your tour guide, just give me the word...
- Central Penn Sporting Clays http://centralpennsportingclays.com/ - The Warrington Club, next door to Central Penn... http://www.warringtonclub.com/ - Blue Ridge Sporting Clays, need a GPS for this one... http://blueridgesportingclays.com/ As for the guns I sold, I make enough profit to buy the guns I really want! Let me know when you boys plan on coming up... |

Thanks, If we do come up, I'll be happy to meet you and shoot plenty.
Here's the deal. W/W's very into ceramics. A pottery guru she took a seminar from last summer will be doing more such this summer near the banks of the Juniata again. While W/W is throwing clay, I shoot clays. W/W starts her new job in June. She may not be able to take off over the summer while folks are vacationing. I'll let you know either way.... |

I wondered about Wobble Trap until it was explained on that video posted on another thread. See episode 71 http://www.powerfactorshow.com/
At the end it explains that wobble trap, also known as continental trap is bery much like American Trap with a few differendes. 1. The tagets are faster (don't recall how much) 2. The angles are sharper (don't recall) 3. Besides oscillating to the left and right, the machine also oscillates to throw targets higher and lower (this seems to be the big difference to me but I have yet to try it.) 4. You are permitted to take a second shot to hit a target. |

TKM, wobble trap, in a specific configuration, is used a as substitute for an Olympic bunker. With 15 machines and a lot of concrete work, bunkers are expensive. My club had one bunker and a wobble tap set up in the next field. IIRC, for Olympic trap events they used both fields.

Zippy. Wobble sounds a lot more complex then the video I saw indicated. I will have to check and see if it is offered near here and take a look at it. I checked a site called AllOutfitters.com and it looks like everybody has wobble trap. I will have to ask about that. Prado supposedly has it. I know they have 5 stand.

Wobble Trap is nothing more than trap style 5 stand. You get 25 targets to shoot from usually a wood pyramid style 5 man station structure. You shoot one single, then a pair of doubles at each station. It's fun and not hard at all...

My shotgun range doesn't have anything like that. Looks like fun. Did the sporting clays course again last Thursday & they changed up a lot of stations. Shot a 49. Higher than the week before, but didn't break my all time high,61. I'll never earn my shooters vest at that pace.

Nick, don't worry about the shooters vest, just go out and enjoy yourself. Remember, shotgunning isn't about scoring, I look at it more like a cult. Guns, outdoors, good friends, etc. The perfect way to detach from the venom that surrounds us at times.
Shoot 'em up... |
