The Germans understand
My posting name comes from the fact that I live in Arizona. Opa is the German word for grandfather. Since I teach my grandchildren German, the name came naturally.

Dang, Ed. And all this time I thought your name was Ed Frompa. Latvian, or something...
You are not the first person to think that. Yours is the best one so far. |

Mine just kind of fell together on its own.
My name is Bill, I live near Buffalo NY, and an early interest in the Wild West and some of the characters it produced is what got me interested in firearms. Definitely firearms related But not much of a good story |

My buddies call me Dirty Harry so it stuck.
I am Dirty_Harry or Dirty_H on most forums I frequent.

"Alliant Powder - BE-86 - Which provides superior lot-to-lot consistency, improved flow; contains flash suppressant; high energy"...
"Following World War II, there were a great number of warships being decommissioned, sold, scrapped, or deactivated and placed in reserve {commonly referred to as 'mothballed'}. During this process, labor workers would bring spare parts up from the storerooms and the lead supply clerk would inform them what the disposition of their parts were by part number. Anything referred to as AT-6 {or by similar phonetic, eighty-six} was to be disposed of in the dumpster. This is where the term became synonymous with throwing something away." Psalm 86 A prayer of David "Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God; ruthless people are trying to kill me --- they have no regard for you." My middle name is --- Ernst {name of a famous World War II German Tiger Tank battalion commander} --- my nickname is Erno.

The "j" is the first letter of my first name, the remaining letters are from my last name. The numbers were my employee number. The combination was used as a security code to enter my former place of employment (happily retired now). It's stuck in my head so I used it on numerous forums.
Not gun related but I've been involved with firearms since I could walk. |

The thread is running a bit long, but what the heck...
My nickname in the Marines was "MoGas" because its the term we use to refer to 'unleaded gasoline' = Motor Gasoline, vice JP-8 (or JP-5) is a jet fuel that doubles as diesel fuel. When I was a boot, (new guy) I was interested in hot-rods and muscle cars and such and drove an '86 442. My last name is Mo----, so they called me Mo-Gas because I was more interested in gasoline engines than the heavy diesels we worked on... The 1341 was my MOS designator in the Marines (Engineer Equipment Mechanic) Though not entirely 'gun-related' I wanted an 'inside' reference to the military and a reference to my job field... I would have also picked a name along the lines of "Big Mo" or "Mo-M70" in reference to the USS Missouri (my favorite battleship that lines up with my nickname) or the latter in reference to the Marine sniper Carlos Hathcock's rifle, which is the exact Winchester M-70, 30-06 Model rifle I carry for my 'go to gun' for hunting and such.

I have a 71 chevelle SS and everybody thinks it stands for a big block Chevy. What it actually means is 45 for me since I carry a 45 for self defense.

My names based off Dragline from Cool Hand Luke, my favorite movie of all time. In an attempt to keep it gun related, I guess it could apply to the drag line on a revolver cylinder, but that's utterly boring.

Obviously not gun related for me. Seldom do I turn cranks anymore now I just train people to if need be, but it is how my machining career began, which lead to the paychecks that allowed me to buy some guns.

Mine is the variant I got in an online gaming site back in 1998 when I tried to go with Ridge Runner III, a P-51D Mustang that had 8 .50 caliber machine guns in the wings
