ID question
I am just getting into hunting and am trying to teach myself as much as possible. When I do go out, I'll be with a friend who has a lot of experience, but for now I want to get as much knowledge as possible.
My quesion is: is there a good publication/book that tells how to identify gender and species of 1)waterfowl 2)and different species of elk/deer etc.? Thanks

Hello jb26,
I found the "Ducks At A Distance Pocket Guide" - 61-1023 for $2.50 very useful. It features different species of waterfowl and information on how to identify them by plumage colors, flock pattersns, silhoutes and sounds. And their "Wildlife Identification Pocket Guide " - - 61-1023 is good as well. FWIW they carry two types of their guides, one which shows you how to field dress the animals and a PC version for non hunters. They are available at http://www.outdoorempire.com/ . Regards, UK2TX |
