S&W 629, what type of scope?
What would you prefer, a conventional long eye-releif scope, a red-dot, a Bushnell holo-sight or a Tasco optima. It will be mounted on a S&W 629 with a 8 3/8" barrel. will mainly be using it for hunting and target shooting.
any advice is very welcome.

Aussie, my personal preference would be a conventional LER scope with cross hairs. I would probably go with a Leupold or Burris and would prefer a fixed low power, 1.5x or 2x, over a higher powered or variable. In handgun hunting your max range doesn't increase with a scope. It's still limited to 50 - 75 yds so magnification isn't needed. George

The Leupold 2x has worked well on my 29 and Redhawk, as well as my Contender Super 14 .44 Magnum barrel. I haven't tried other brands of scopes on my pistols. I have tried red dots on these guns, but prefer the scope.
