loads for metallic targets

I'm currently shooting 9mm, 115 g round nose bullet, 5.1 g of Win 231 propellant, and am tired of punching holes in paper. I want to shoot metallic targets in a wooded area at a friends. Anyone offer any advise on safe load at a given distance from metal target, thickness of the plate, etc. I'm not interested in competative shooting just want to hear something "clank" or move. Thanks........ctrbull

Your load should be OK. Plate thickness is 1/2 inch and 6 to 8 inches dia. Beware of splash back, or the round bounceing back at you off the plate.
