STI Duty One

I have been looking for a new 9mm 1911 and found the duty one online.

I really like the look and STI has a great reputation from what I can find. The problem is that no one in my area has one in stock to put my hands on. What do people think of the Duty One and how does it shoot? Any information on STI in general or the Duty One specifically would be helpfull.

Thanks

A buddy of mine has one and I've shot it a couple hundred rounds maybe. Really, and I mean REALLY nice gun for the money. One ragged hole at 25 feet with 8 rounds.

I can't speak to reliability as his is still new to him but previous owner claimed flawless operation. Round count is somewhere near 1k.

The next handgun I buy will likely be a 1911 in 9 mil and it may just be the Duty One. The Lawman 5.0 is also of interest to me.

The Spartan is a nice gun in its own right, but it is not truely made by STI. It is only assembled by them the parts come from over seas, not knocking it however.

I was a hair away from buying a Duty One and opted for the Tactical SS 5.0 9mm instead. My buddy is ordering a Duty One however. If it is anything like my Tactical SS 9mm you will absolutely love it.

Don't know if you've made your decision yet, but an STI is an excellent choice. HKFan9 is correct about the Spartan. For the money it's a solid pistol, but it's the only STI not built start to finish at their Georgetown, TX. facility and doesn't benefit from the hand fitting that their other pistols receive. I don't own a Duty One, but I do have several other STI single stack pistols and they are excellent. Two rotate as my primary carry (Ranger and Guardian) and two others I shoot in IDPA and USPSA (Trojan and Sentinel). My STIs are tightly built, yet very smooth, have excellent triggers, are very accurate, and have proven ridiculously reliable. Additionally it's a terrific company and offers a lifetime warranty on their pistols. If you ever were to have the need to call on their customer service you'll find it's second to none. Finally, STI has an enviable reputation in competitive circles. (I shot my STI Edge in a USPSA match this morning. If I was half as good as the pistol I'd be dangerous!)

Admittedly I've been an STI junkie for years and never been disappointed.

Whats the difference between the Duty One and STI's LS9 / LS40?

The LS9 and 40 were small compact guns that were made similar to a 1911 pattern. I am actually currently looking for an LS9 but they are no longer made.

The Duty One is a fullsize 1911, well they also make a 4'' and 3'' version as well that is a more traditional 1911 with a railed frame.
