BCM or PSA?

After much reading and research trying to determine what upper I should I've narrowed it down to two. Here are the choices:

PSA 20" CHF Premium SQR 15" Blem-Ready for Duty-With BCG & Charging Handle.

http://www.palmettostatearmory.com/i...ng-handle.html

And this is the other one:

BCM Standard 20" Government Profile Upper Receiver Group

What would you buy and why would you?

Both are great choices. Do you see yourself adding a railed forearm to the BCM upper?

Did you by chance see this option as well?:

If I get the BCM i'll probably put a quad rail on it. And I already ruled out the one you posted but I do appreciate you making a recommendation.

If i had to choose between BCM or PSA, I'd go BCM. 1. It's a Wisconsin product and i like to support local business. 2. It's very well made. 3. BCM has stood up for 2A rights many times in the past year, including canceling a contract with the Milwaukee PD because MPD's chief of police doesn't believe in civilian's right to own ARs. That kind of action makes me want to do business with them all the more.

I'd advise against using a quad rail, unless you plan on loading up your rifle with with stuff on the front. Quad rails add unnecessary weight(IMO) and they eat up your hands. I'd go with either a proprietary system(Troy and Midwest Industries both have excellent setups), or the new keymod system. Both achieve the same results of a quad rail(the ability to place stuff wherever you want), but for around 1/2 the weight.

BCM all the way.

Although I've had PSA uppers in the past, BCM is well known for quality and reliability.

I'd do BMC, but I'm a bit biased. Both companies seem pretty darn good. I'm jealous whatever way you go. I've wanted a 20" or 22" AR in 5.56 for a long time. I've got that black rifle bug. Let us know how it shoots when you get one.

I have both and have to say BCM. But my PSA with a BCM BCG is darn close yet is a couple hundred cheaper than BCM, if that is important to you. You're not likely to go wrong with either.

I would go with PSA. BCM offers nothing that justifies the extra money. The one time I needed customer service from PSA the were all over it like a duck on a junebug.

Of course, I could say go with PSA because (1) It's a South Carolina product (including the FN barrels), (2) It's very well made, and (3) PSA also stands up for 2A rights, and unlike many manufacturers, refrained from gouging during the recent panic.

All that said, though, both are extremely good choices, and the simple fact that the OP is mentioning them means he's done some homework.

I didn't tell OP to go with BCM because of those reasons, i stated the reasons why I support BCM(after all, his question was who would you go with and why). If those are your reasons for supporting PSA, good for you.

I have three BCM AR-15 uppers, each with a BCM BCG. Only had one problem with one of the BCG's and BCM fixed it. Turnaround was less than three weeks.

Uppers
rifle length gas system, 18" stainless barrel
http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-S...-missg2-15.htm

Midlength gas system 14.5" barrel w/Surefire brake permanent attach
http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-B...mid-14-bfh.htm

Carbine length 11.5" stainless barrel (as a pistol until politicians amend ridiculous laws about NFA items in Washington state)
http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-S...11%20ss410.htm

The BCG on the 18" was the one that went bad, but no problems as of late. the rifle will shoot 1-1.5 MOA with factory American Eagle 55gr M193 5.56. Haven't tried the heavier stuff for accuracy yet, but it should shoot fine with the 1:8 barrel. No hiccups, overgassing, or undergassing due to fit and finish on all rifles with the M16 carriers and standard weight buffers/springs in carbine and rifle length stocks.

I have both and BCM and "Premium" PSA are on an equal level as far as parts quality, BCM better build quality initially as Palmetto is turning out products so fast sometimes things are not lined up correctly and screws torqued properly. Just check both products when received and do any final adjustments, that gives you a sense of accomplishment also. Both rifles will have the ability to shoot more ammo than the average person can afford to buy and do it reliably.

I know, I know.

Moral of the story is support local business (as long as they have a quality product and a fair price)!
