I agree, I was looking at the 2022 but now that they are over 400, the m&p's are at that price too.

summit sells them. 40 cal version for under 400 with 2 mags, just over 400 with 3 mags.

for 66 bucks at midway, you can get a factory s&w 9mm barrel and you get a gun that shoots both.

There's not a lot ~$500 in the hammer fired category. At $400-$500 I still think the SP2022 has its place.
Know the status of your weapon
Keep your muzzle oriented so that no one will be hurt if the firearm discharges
Keep your finger off the trigger until you have an adequate sight picture
Maintain situational awareness

I agree. At $399 it was champ of it's category, but it's still a price point contender. I like that it doesn't have a ton of safety nonsense like Ruger's affordable pistols,

When I handled a Sig Pro many years ago and found that even the small grip seemed huge. And I had a TZ-99 after that. So make sure one of the grips really work for you, first.

It may be worth your while to check out the CZ-999, and maybe a full size Bersa Thunder Pro. Both have very Sig-like features and excellent quality. If you get the 2022, great. But these would be similar guns at similar prices.
